Warfield Girl Guides (Trail Girl Guides) are fundraising for a very exciting opportunity! Our girls have applied to attend SOAR 2017 in Smithers BC, Girl Guides camping together in Northern BC. SOAR (Spirit of Adventure Rendezvous) is a large week long Provincial Girl Guide camp that brings up to 2500 participants together from BC, Canada and International Guiding units. This event is only held every 3 years so we are lucky to have this opportunity. Unfortunately this event also comes with a hefty price tag do to travel to and from Smithers (about 3 hours west of Prince George), upgraded camping equipment, and the cost of the camp itself. Our unit has come up with some great fundraising ideas over the next year and we would love the community to come out and help us reach our goal.
Our first upcoming event is a Garage and Bake Sale which will be held on Saturday June 4th from 8am-1pm, at 460 Forrest Drive in Warfield. We have had so many items donated from the community that we know there will be something for everyone; tools, toys, books, movies, furniture, appliances, sporting goods, household items, etc! We will also have baking available that the girls and their families will make for you to enjoy; loaves, squares, muffins, cupcakes, pies, etc. All funds made from this event go directly towards the cost of SOAR.
Our next event that you will see is a bin at the Bottle Depot in Trail for the month of July. If you have any bottles or cans lying around you can put them right into the bin, no sorting required! Again all of these funds will go straight to the cost of SOAR. We will also be have a bottle drive, a car wash, and a community tea starting in the fall, stay tuned for more information!
Our Girl Guides are so proud of the community that they live, volunteer and play in, and would like to thank you all in advance for your help in reaching our goal.
